In a diverse country like Singapore, delivering a Christian funeral is a lot different from any other religions, these not only involves prayers but also scripture reading from the bible, a sermon from the pastor, a homily given in a mass, eulogy coming from family, and friends

There is a lot of preparation to make for a Christian memorial service to take place, first is to find a reliable funeral parlour that will help the grieving family in arranging all the needs for the memorial service and burials.

Most Chinese-Singaporean Christian grew up in a non-Christian home, it means that some of them do not practice the common rituals of Christian, but some of them incorporate Chinese Cultural practices in doing a Christian funeral.

There is some funeral parlour in Singapore that offers funeral packages from a different religion that includes serving a Christian Memorial Services. They mostly offered a minimalist concept that most Chinese-Singaporean Christian chooses as it makes the ambiance clearer and peaceful.

In attending a Christian funeral, a family and a friend gathering in a room or place, wearing a white T-shirt or any white top with black pants or bottom. The duration of a Christian funeral will take three to five days before burial.

Before the Christian Memorial Services starts, the selected funeral parlour will provide transportation service to bring the family, friends, visitors to the Memorial Hall, and they will also transport them to other locations like the burial or cremation venue.

During the funeral, people have given time to grief, if someone wants to send off their goodbye as a sign of respect, and a family member must accompany them to the coffin of the deceased.

Accompanying the visitors is a family member’s responsibility because leaving a visitor alone is an impolite gesture, especially during a Christian funeral. Using a funeral parlour is to help the family 24/7 to provide help and guide them during grief that also includes, assisting the visitors during the ceremony.

The last day of the wake of Christian memorial service, a pastor will begin the mass ceremony, there will be a sermon, homily and preaches. After the mass ended, that’s the time when family and friends to deliver their eulogy while they are reminiscing about the memories of an event they had with the deceased.

They transport everyone to the burial or cremation place when the wake has ended. When it’s time to leave, it’s highly recommended to say comforting words to the family-like, “Please Take Care,” while the family member will respond, “You do the same, and thank you for coming.”
